Dr. Sarah Jang, O.D.

Optometrist

Homeopathic Extern

Dr. Sarah completed a degree of Honours Science with a Minor in Biology at the University of Waterloo and received her Doctor of Optometry in 2009 from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. While in Chicago, she spent significant time training in the co-management and therapy of patients with a variety of ocular diseases, especially Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration.

During an internship at the Ophthalmology Department in University of Chicago, Dr. Sarah participated in primary eye care including co-management and specializing in diseases of the retina, glaucoma, pre-and post-operative cataract and ocular emergencies. She also assists in a variety of contact lens fitting, especially specialty contact lenses for conditions including keratoconus , presbyopia, high astigmatism, and post-surgical corneas.

After graduation, Dr. Sarah went on to practice optometry in Buffalo, New York gaining extensive experience in managing and caring patients to full scope of optometry care including Therapeutical Pharmaceutical Agents(TPA).  Ontario licensed and board certified in ocular pharmaceutical agents and minor surgical procedures for the optometrist, Dr. Sarah’s training and experience allow her to diagnose, treat, and manage or co-manage all eye conditions.

After practicing Optometry over a decade, Dr. Sarah felt something was missing in her practice, which was a true connection with her patients; an increased transparency in her doctor patient relationship which she began to foster. She began to enroll in personal development and coaching courses including the Landmark Forum and began to meditate and perform Yoga and as she began to feel the positive changes in her life she began to coach her patients during their routine eye examinations with their stress and emotional health, and the impact it was having was huge.

So she began her journey in alternative healing and therapies, eastern medicine, etc. and is a graduate of the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine (CCHM) in Toronto. She is  looking forward to assisting patients to find the true cause or the root of the issue and providing treatment alternatives to the current western medical model with mind-body healing, homeopathic medicine, preventive care, and treatment.

She is an active member of Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, College of Optometrist of Ontario, and American Optometric Association.
